Learn about the many aspects of trauma healing
Developing your own role as a trauma-sensitive teacher will be a central part of this workshop. You will gain a deeper understanding of the concept of trauma and its physiological and psychological effects. You will investigate the underlying psychosomatic mechanisms and short and long term reactions in body and mind in a practice-based way. Also, you will learn a step-by-step approach in the gentle release of trauma. Furthermore, different tools for a trauma-sensitive yoga class are presented and put into practice, such as asana, meditation and breathing techniques, as well as a holistic approach to healing. The acquired insights will help you to recognize trauma-based behaviour in your classroom and provide you with practical guidelines for dealing with traumatized persons as a teacher.
This workshop is suited for every yoga teacher who wants to learn more on trauma healing and how to use this in the classroom. This workshop is a follow up of part 1.
The programme covers:
- An in-depth exploration of the concept of trauma, its functioning and effects on a physiological and psychological level.
- How to become trauma-sensitive: awareness and recognition of trauma-based behaviour in the classroom.
- Learning how to use yoga as a tool in working with trauma’s.
- The role of the teacher in dealing with trauma’s.
- How to create a safe learning environment for your students?
“When traumas, be they extreme or mild, are not resolved, they leave behind a slew of painful and unprocessed feelings in the unconscious. These feelings are never content to remain silent and instead clamour for release. When they can express themselves openly and without disguise, a healing process is activated.”
